Jayvian was AMAZING - she made our night so special. She was extremely accommodating with gluten free requests and I felt assured that everything I was eating was Celiac safe.
Highly recommend Melting Pot (and Jayvian as a server if possible!!)
EDIT: I did want to write a follow up review, as I woke up this morning covered in sweat, hives, and have been getting sick for the past few hours. We did specify to multiple staff members that a gluten free meal was needed, and ordered every course while specifically mentioning I have Celiac disease so need everything gluten free.
Unfortunately the first course (Wisconsin cheese) was being made in front of us and the first ingredient added was beer. I inquired if it was gluten free beer, which Jayvian assured me she’d check once the cheese was finished. She did come back a few minutes later and let me know it was NOT gluten free and not to eat it, and was able to bring out my own double boiler about 15 minutes later that was safe for me, which I really appreciated.
I felt comfortable that something like that wouldn’t happen with the next courses, and I was assured it wouldn’t as well, however we were brought teriyaki steak for our main meal. I didn’t realize until this morning waking up violently ill that I was served an entree filled with gluten.
I do still really appreciate Jayvian’s service and we loved her energy as a server, however the severity of food allergies and autoimmune diseases like Celiac might need to be a bigger conversation with management, kitchen staff, and servers. Unfortunately eating gluten is not a simple mistake for me, and will now have to deal with the physical effects of this for weeks.
I wanted to follow up on my initial review, especially for others with Celiac that may be reading reviews to determine whether it’s a safe dining location for themselves. If you do dine at Melting Pot, it is really important to continuously advocate for your food needs when each course is brought out, even if you’ve specified the gluten free option for each course. I recommend keeping a menu on hand after ordering so you are able to confirm all the items delivered for each course are gluten free. I wish I had kept a menu handy after the cheese fondue issue, but again was assured the rest of the meal would be safe. Hindsight is 20/20, and I just wanted to give an FYI for other Celiac diners
