Extremely disappointed that this local cafe does not cater fully for those who are coeliac. I just called the Plucky Pheasant to ask if they have gluten free options for English breakfast/ brunch. The response was that they have gluten free bread and could swap items like their sausages, which have gluten, for other items! This did NOT reassure me. Why should those who are coeliac have to substitute items such as sausages? I suggested that they catered properly for those who are coeliac as it isn't out of choice but a necessary dietary requirement due to their health condition. Having gluten free sausages on their menu is NOT a big ask!! I also explained that it's not just a matter of having those gluten free products but also ensuring that there is no cross contamination. I'm surprised and saddened that I have had to raise this at such a longstanding establishment who really should be well-versed about this.
