The Scone Shack

The Scone Shack is a charming spot a little off the beaten track in the busy Summer holiday season in Cape Town. The farmyard chic styling is delightful, with rustic tables for all sized groups scattered in a landscape that includes great mountain views, a selection of farmyard animals, and succulents in every type of container you can possibly imagine. The mood is very relaxed and you may have to wait for your freshly baked scones with butter, jam and cream. Their crumbly deliciousness is well worth the wait. We tried the normal and gluten-free options with plum jam and both were very yummy. The menu is limited but I am always thrilled to find a small menu of excellence rather than a wide range of mediocrity. This will be a place I visit every chance I get. Note: cash only and open on certain days of the week.

Cash only establishment set in a tranquil, nature-loving environment. The gluten-free scones are excellent. The "chocolate cake" turned out to be a brownie and ice cream which was disappointing. Their chocolate milkshakes are good. There is a dam surrounded by dragonflies, ducks and some pigs. The waitress muddled up the order a couple of time but she was friendly. Ample parking (uncovered) and seating (umbrellas are limited).
