This venue offers a gorgeous pub setting with an electric atmosphere and lively vibes. The staff are attentive and understanding, taking gluten-free needs seriously, though truly coeliac-safe options are limited and carefully prepared.

Good to know

1

Only a couple of items on the menu were truly gluten-free.

2

Gluten-free food should be prepared and cooked separately.

3

The menu needs to be changed to accurately indicate which items are truly gluten-free.

Visited the Bistro at the hotel for lunch today. Bistro staff were very lovely and helpful, but unfortunately that’s where it ends. I had already looked at the menu before arriving to check if they offered gluten free ( I’m coeliac) options. Lots of GF options on the menu which was great BUT only a couple of items were “coeliac safe”. We were advised the menu was only new (by 1 day), and items that are marked GF ( salt and pepper squid, chicken katsudon) are not actually gluten free as they are cooked with the gluten items (fish, chicken schnitzel) in the same cooker or deep fryer. I asked what would be GF and Coeliac safe on the menu and was told I could only pick from a few of the GF marked items such as the steak, chicken supreme, duck breast and the pork nachos ( not marked GF though). The waitress said they are going to reassess the menu even though the current menu is new. The menu definitely needs to be altered to indicate what’s truly gluten free. I know at the bottom of the menu it mentions that the kitchen handles food such as shellfish, gluten and nuts and that reasonable efforts are taken to accommodate guest dietary requirements, they cannot guarantee that their food will be allergen free. I feel it is misleading if it is advertised as GF but not. GF food should be prepared and cooked in a separate part of the kitchen with a separate fryer. Hope this review helps anyone else who is Coeliac or is gluten intolerant, when visiting this location. I was very disappointed with the choices as a coeliac.
