The Wheatsheaf

Lovely pub, food was tasty, hot and fresh with good size servings. We visited on a Thursday evening in July, the pub was very quiet. Two of our party had dietary requirements, one of which was served with a gluten-free menu and this was fine, the other was given a tablet to look up the relevant allergens, but it wouldn’t work to load the information needed. I was able to find the information on my phone in the end but the staff weren’t particularly helpful with this, felt like we were an inconvenience for needing to know about allergens. When we did order, the dish I ordered I was informed they didn’t have any rice so it would come with chips instead. When the food arrived, it was also missing other listed items as described on the menu. Aside from this, the food itself was really tasty, hot and fresh. We were served by two different members of staff, who both came over 2-3 times each during our meal, this was quite disruptive, to be asked each time how our meals were - after the first time of saying “all good” we would usually expect to be left alone until we had all finished our meals. We will go back, because we appreciate that sometimes it’s just a bad day!

Excellent meal as always at chef and brewer establishment. Melted cheese starter mouthwatering Good gluten free menu and both of us enjoyed the steak and ale pie. Staff very friendly and helpful 😀
