The Whip Tavern

My girlfriend took me here to celebrate my 40th birthday, and I was very happy with the experience. The food is quite good and authentic, the beer selections were extensive and even included gluten free options (since I have Celiac's, I rely on the availability of such goods at places and am glad to see it becoming more normal), and the sticky toffee pudding was, as she put it, "extremely decadent." I recommend this place if you want an English meal this side of the pond.

We had a lovely dinner at The Whip Tavern. The Luxury Pie is a special that rotates with other meals on weekends. We started put with the Wedge Salad (shared) and Crispy Brussel Sprouts for the table. All of us ordered the Luxury Pie for our entree. It is so good! Bay scallops, shrimp, and white fish in a cream reduction served with whipped garlic mash potatoes. Gluten-free. We also brought home dessert! I got the fresh, made from scratch, strawberry rhubarb cheese cake, and my companion ordered the blood orange cheese cake with oreo-style crust. We're too full from dinner to explore the dessert just yet. Service was fantastic with the server very attentive and friendly. The Whip Tavern has a wide selection of British and Irish beers and ciders on tap and in the can. The interior is dark wood with a British pub atmosphere. We enjoyed the June weather to eat on the patio beside the small stream that flows nearby.
