Gluten-Free & Celiac Diners, Take Note!
This review is meant as a heads-up for the gluten-free and celiac community about an issue I encountered with GF options at this restaurant. First and foremost, the restaurant itself is fantastic, and the staff is wonderful.
The first time I visited about a month ago, I was thrilled to see gluten-free pancakes on the menu. As someone with severe gluten intolerance, I made it crystal clear to my server that I required a gluten-free meal. They assured me that all pancake flavors could be made GF, so I excitedly ordered the sweet potato pancakes. They were absolutely delicious—so much so that I couldn’t wait to return for them!
Unfortunately, today’s visit left me disappointed. When I placed my order, the manager informed me that the sweet potato pancakes cannot be made gluten-free. This left me with two unsettling possibilities: either the ones I had last time weren’t actually GF, or something changed. Either way, it was frustrating, especially since that was the main reason I came back.
I ended up ordering the chocolate chip pancakes, which were fantastic, but this experience makes me hesitant about their food allergy protocols. Thankfully, I don’t have severe reactions when exposed to gluten, but many others do, and consistency is crucial for those with dietary restrictions.
That said, the staff handled the situation perfectly, even when I was clearly frustrated, and the overall experience was still enjoyable. I hope they find a way to make the sweet potato pancakes gluten-free ASAP!
