Toby Carvery Formby

The best Toby Carvery I have been too. I always worry going to a restaurant as I am a celiac. However none of the usual difficulties here. The staff completely uderstood and plated me the food I chose - directly from the kitchen to avoid contamination. The veggies and roasties were gorgeous and cooked just right. I would not hesitate in recommending this Toby.

We had a birthday meal here this evening and I am not very impressed. The gluten free options are minimal here. No alternative milks either, even supermarket cafes have at least soya milk. Ordered sausages for my daughter which when they came looked like quorn. Fine if you like quorn, but we didn't want that. Twice I asked the waitress if they were quorn and she tried to fob me off saying they were real meat they just looked funny because they had been steamed and finally said she could get some sausages off the carvery if I wasn't happy (I wasn't!) but they'd just be the same. Someone, who I can only presume was the manager, brought the others which were obviously meat and confirmed the others were quorn. No one came to see if everything was OK with the meal or if we wanted any other drinks. My salad was alright but I wanted real mayonnaise not low fat stuff which they didn't have. Carvery eaters confirmed it was nice food on the carvery but as a Toby Carvery goes, it is not a patch on the Fiveways in Ormskirk where they really can't do enough for you. It's a pleasant enough environment but a lot of things were lacking.
