The two of us arrived at Tu Tierra around 6pm on a Saturday and didn't have to wait for a seat, as there were plenty of available tables. We were greeted and told to pick any table we wanted and grabbed one near the window at the rear of the establishment. There was a substantial basket of chips and medium-spicy, fresh salsa placed immediately on the table (honestly, there was enough to almost make it a meal). The menu is pretty extensive with an emphasis on authenticity and combinations. We chose the Molcajete, which is supposed to be for 2 people, but when it was delivered, all gloriously bubbling and smoking hot on the platter, there was easily enough to feed three. We were advised that they were missing a certain ingredient for the Molcajete (pork rinds) so we asked them to substitute whatever they wanted, and it turned out to be a mountain of additional veggies on top of an already large serving of beef, chicken, and mixed veggies, plus a side of rice and beans. The sauce and ingredients in the Molcajete were excellent, and my only wish would be for about 30% more corn tortillas to make it a true meal for 3. As it was, there were just enough tortillas for two of us to completely over-stuff them and still take 50% of the meal home in a box (minus the tortillas). We also enjoyed a Pacifico and lime Jarritos. I highly recommend the Molcajete for $52+GST and tip. I'm only giving 4 stars on the atmosphere because there was no gluten or dairy identifiers on the menu, which I think wouldn't be hard to add and probably should be on most menus these days. Otherwise, great food, great service, everything is super clean and bright. Oh, and check out the floor when you are there... It's really cool. Looks like it's on fire.

Best Mexican Restaurant in Calgary! We had beef, shrimp and chicken tacos. They were so tasty. The guacamole and tortilla soup are homemade and out of this world. They also have tons of gluten free options. Artwork throughout by local artist Veronica Palafax. She is so talented!
