Umekes Fish Market Bar & Grill

The food was amazing. I'm glad we made a stop for more local caught seafood. The service was very friendly, but I was a little disappointed to not receive my side dish. I had to order gluten-free, and was told I would get mixed greens, but instead I just got three full scoops of furikake rice. Delicious. But more rice than I needed. The food was great and everyone enjoyed their dishes. Semi casual inside. A nice place to enjoy a family dinner. Definitely stop at Umekes for poke. I was really happy to try the gluten-free Hawaiian poke. It was a generous helping of high quality, delicate and buttery fish with some tasty seasonings. Yum!

If this poke restaurant were on the mainland, it might earn a solid five stars. However, while it was enjoyable, it didn’t quite blow me away. The macaroni salad was a standout—thick, creamy, and bursting with flavor. I also tried the pork belly appetizer, which was crispy and delicious, though a dipping sauce would have elevated it to perfection. Our server was delightful and attentive, but we ran into an issue that dampened the experience. One person in our party has celiac disease, and she was offered a special gluten-free menu. She clearly explained to the staff that this wasn’t a preference but a severe allergy requiring strict care. They assured her the food would be handled properly, yet her salad arrived with a noodle in it. The manager stepped in and offered to remake it personally, but by then, she’d lost confidence in their cross-contamination protocols.

Service was very quick and friendly. The fresh poke was delicious. They do have a gluten free menu that was very helpful in deciding what to eat.
