🥑 Usually when your friend suggests going to a vegan restaurant to an omnivore it seems like you are there to atone for past gluttonous behavior. My expectations are usually lower for vegan restaurants. So I was thrilled to be wrong on so many levels here.
I chose this place since I really wanted to support their mission of clean eating, sustainability, helping the recovery community and clean living. The zero alcohol "cocktails" were packed with flavor and expertly crafted. I had a drink with with jalapenos and lined with chili salt. I don't drink often... especially not during the day so it was great to have a grown-up drink for lunch and not feel buzzed in the afternoon. The charcuterie board had some outstanding roasted beet hummus ... I don't even like beets normally....
🍝 The "meatballs" had an outstanding house-made marinara sauce with faux mozzarella cheese on it. Really outstanding! We also had roasted brussel sprouts...also tasty!
The sliders had the most meat-like taste and texture with some great accompanying sauces - an aioli and a bbq dipping sauce! The sweet potato gluten free gnocchi with a sage cream sauce was just spectacular!
I was bursting at the seams but my lunch companion wanted dessert... she ordered the flan.... which I normally think is a waste of stomach space. It was also spectacular... very caramely and ethereal... MUCH better than a traditional egg-based flan.... not even in the same category really. I love that there was a mix of styles of foods- gastropub, comfort food and more elevated sophisticated dishes as well.
