Without question the very best vanilla birthday cake, lemon shortbread and ginger snap cookie I have ever had! This bakery is a blesssssing to those of us who can’t have gluten but love a good treat! (Side note it did look closed when I drove up and the staff was less that friendly nor helpful. But well worth the drive and the attitude!)

A dream come true for my daughter’s 3rd birthday!🎊 We ordered a custom cake from Unrefined Bakery in Preston Center (Sherry Lane location) and I can honestly say, this was one of the best bakery experiences I’ve ever had. 🥰 This was a last-minute order placed just one day in advance, and Leslie, the baker, was incredibly kind, thoughtful, and professional from start to finish. She called me for a quick consultation to go over what was realistic given the time crunch, but still made space for creativity and customization ✨. We talked through my daughter’s favorite colors, themes, and dietary restrictions, and she genuinely listened to everything I said. The next day, while we were still at my mija’s birthday outing 🦖, Leslie sent me a video preview of the finished cake 📲, which I didn’t expect at all. It looked amazing, but I noticed two small things: it had pink instead of blue (we had originally discussed purple and blue pastel buttercream flowers on the sides), and the top looked a little plain. I mentioned this gently when she asked for feedback, and without hesitation she said, “No problem; I can fix that right now.” 💪🏼 In the middle of a busy Saturday, she added piping and decorations on the spot😮‍💨, adjusted the flowers, colors (all dye-free) 🎨, and added the fresh strawberries when we brought them in 🍓. The moment she showed us the final cake, I was in awe. It was gorgeous, it had texture, it felt personal, and it tasted incredible. Especially for a LAST MINUTE order. The cake we ordered was was vanilla (contains eggs and coconut milk) with chocolate ganache filling (contains eggs) 🍫 and vegan strawberry un-buttercream frosting🍓 — all natural, no dyes, and totally allergy-friendly ✅ (specifically: dairy-free, gluten-free, soy-free). Guests with zero dietary restrictions couldn’t believe how good it was. Even people who are used to ultra-processed, sugary cakes said it was moist, flavorful, and one of the best they’ve had 👏🏼. It was an absolute hit! Mi hija loved it so much she didn’t want to share! 🎂💜 It was especially meaningful because she’s never had a “real” birthday cake before due to food allergies. This one made her feel so special and loved; and for her parents, knowing it was safe for her to consume was the cherry on top 🍒 We also picked up a few treats while we were there: • 🥕 The carrot cake cupcake (i think it was vegan) with un-buttercream frosting, so soft and flavorful. Ugh so delicious. 🤤 • 🍪 The vegan chocolate chip whoopie pie, like a nostalgic oatmeal cream pie but better 🤤 • 🥥 The coconut custard pie, truly a slice of heaven. 😫 I had been been vegan for years (now just GF, dairy free + other stuff) and haven’t had coconut cream pie in forever. (Although I do think it contains eggs). This one brought me right back to my childhood 🥺💓 They also had berry pies 🫐, more samples, and other amazing options. Everything we tried was incredible, flavorful, thoughtfully made, and allergy-conscious without sacrificing taste 🌱💫. Whether you’re ordering a custom cake 🎂, picking up a pre-made cake 🍰, or just stopping in for a treat 🍪, Unrefined Bakery is worth every penny (also super affordable). And if you get to work with Leslie, know you’re in the best hands 👐🏼. She was calm, warm, accommodating, and handled every last-minute change with so much grace and love 💗🙏🏼.
