Urban Plates has gluten free options marked clearly on their menu. The food arrived at our table within a couple minutes of ordering. It was delicious and well cooked. I wish they have locations in Washington state.

Found Plastic in My Food — Told It Was Onion I used to love Urban Plates, because im gluten and dairy free, but this visit was both shocking and concerning for food safety. I found a long, tough, translucent strip in my meal that the staff insisted was onion. Scientifically, cooked onion cells break down under heat — the pectin in the cell walls softens, making them tender and easy to chew. This strip was rigid, fibrous, and completely resistant to chewing, more consistent with a synthetic material such as food-grade plastic film or packaging. When I raised this with the staff, they argued with me and showed no concern or willingness to investigate. This is not just poor customer service — it’s negligent and potentially dangerous. Foreign materials like this pose choking hazards and could introduce harmful substances into food. Very disappointed in a place I once trusted.
