Va Penne

The food, the wine, the ambiance is always phenomenal. I've ordered the vongole so many times and will order it every time I come back, it's that good. Additionally the gluten free pasta is amazing! Such a nice change to see good quality gluten free, rather than a cheap packet or premade pizza base fom the supermarket.

We dined at La Penne recently. I love Italian food but recently had to cut out gluten which has been tough and menus are very limiting. When I mentioned this to the gentleman who seated us he said order whatever you like and we’ll make it gluten free. We shared warm olives and the anchovies and I had a beautiful tagliatelle dish from the specials list. My friend has the gnocchi and said it was the best she’d ever had. It looked delicious. The menu isn’t extensive however it is well thought and offers a lot of variety. My girlfriends and I had a beautiful meal and the service was the best I have experienced in a long time. Va Penne is a gem in the Thornbury/Northcote area. I will definitely be back. Thankyou!!!!
