Venice

Short version- veil is cooked to midwest cubed steak consistency and the risotto is spanish rice. The bolognese is a midwest mom's ketchup spaghetti. Dont eat here. The place looks great. Reviews say they are gluten free friendly. Until you sit down. 30 minutes until a menu arrives! 3 out of 5 meals were bad. $30 risotto that is crunchy. Veil that can't be cut with a fork. Chairs are so tight, going to the bathroom is an obstacle course. The frosting on the bathroom door is peeling so much that you are exposed! To those of us with celiacs, the server kept pushing me towards picatta or marsala. I can't imagine that they cook either of them like an actual Italian restaurant. They offer gf pasta, but I kept being steered away from it. After discovering the veil was inedible, they kept pushing me to order a free dessert. Sorry, I would like an actual dinner first! 2 hours later and I'm hangry. I haven't eaten at cheesecake factory in 15 years. However at 10pm I'm starving and they have edible food.

Venice is my favorite neighborhood restaurant. Their food is excellent with gluten-free options that I appreciate very much, their staff is polite and friendly and they always try to find a spot for me when I show up without a reservation. They have a great wine selection and the place is clean. Alessandro, the owner, is really nice and often personally tends to his guests time to time giving special attention to regulars, which is a nice touch.
