Vernon Diner

Fantastic diner with a well earned reputation. I have gone here for many years but I have recently become gluten intolerant. So, my only gripe is that the menu lacks clear labeling as far as which dishes contain gluten and which don't. If the menus could be labeled so that I and others who are gluten intolerant or have celiac disease would have an easier time ordering. It isn't as simple as just thinking though whether something contains wheat or breading as certain sauces often use flour as a thickening agent, and there's no way to tell by looking at the description of each item. So I have to ask the waitress to ask the kitchen, or I have to make a guess and risk being wrong. But, that said, the wait staff and kitchen staff are both extremely helpful in this regard, and that deserves some credit.

I live around the corner from this restaurant. It is a fantastic restaurant if you do not need gluten free options. They don’t seem willing to accommodate except for gluten free bread. Such a shame as it’s a great restaurant otherwise.

Good food, great portions and has gluten free toast. Breakfast for, 2 pancakes, 2 omelettes will set you back $70 without tip.
