This is definitely my new favorite spot in Palo Alto. My friend and I came here on a Wednesday afternoon for happy hour, which goes until 5:30pm. The inside is pretty small, but there was plenty of outdoor seating. The backyard was closed at the time, but I’m pretty sure it’s open and packed during the summer. But in the winter, they also have heat lamps outside for those chilly evenings.
Their menu is constantly changing so stop in to check out their seasonal offerings. Happy hour wines are $8, and some bites are $8 as well. I got the happy hour pinot noir (Carmel Valley), and my friend got a tasting flight–choose 4 for $18. We both really enjoyed our wines. We also ordered a Hummus plate and some brussel sprouts. Always nice to have something to nibble on while sipping on wine. The hummus plate included some, naan, cucumbers, tomatoes, and fried onions with the hummus. They also had a gluten-free option (crackers or corn chips) for those who have gluten-sensitivities!
The vibe at Vino Locale was just what I was looking for–something low-key, casual, cute and quaint. In mentioning that I was celebrating my 30th birthday, Celinda, one of the owners, really took the time and care to make it a memorable experience. All the staff were attentive and kind. They have a customer for life!
