Vintage Cake Fairy

We wanted a wedding cake which felt like US. We wanted to include tradition, but to also include our personalities and showcase some particular hobbies which were special to us. We had tried Karen's brownies before so knew how amazing her baking skills were! We headed to Vintage Cake Fairy's Studio for a cake sampling and initial design session. All the cake choices were delicious and it was very difficult to choose our favourites. We opted for raspberry/white choc, chocolate, and lemon, all of which were absolutely beautiful. We had headed in with the idea of a reveal cake. We wanted the 'traditional' side to match our wedding colours and aesthetic, and the reveal to include some of our favourite things. Karen helped us to put our ideas to paper, order our thoughts and made suggestions on what may work well. We shared photos of the wedding dress and details of some of the items we were hoping for, including a photo of our dog. Karen drew up a draft and sent it through to us, offering opportunity to tweak. Communication was excellent throughout. We loved the design and booked. In our later planning stages, we opted to make the cake fully gluten-free, which Karen re-costed and facilitated for us quickly and easily. We had a slight worry about the taste/texture compared to the samples we had tried however the gluten-free version was just as tasty and light as the samples, and we otherwise wouldn't have known it was GF. The cake on the day was absolutely AMAZING and we couldn't have asked for anything more. The design was exceptional, with hand painting and extreme attention to detail, which impressed many of our guests. We didn't want to 'cut' it! And the style didn't compromise the taste with each of the 3 flavours being lovely. We kept the sugar-figures, and Karen provided guidance on the best way to care for these after the event. My mum was showing her friends photos for weeks, and a photo was 'reposted' on Instagram by my favourite author! If you're considering Vintage Cake Fairy for a wedding, or celebration cake, I would highly recommend!

We are still absolutely blown away by the cake Karen made for our special day!! My husband got creative during the consultation and design process (possibly a little carried away!) but he was so excited when we left the appointment, I knew we’d made the right choice in trusting Karen. The cake was honestly a star of the show on our wedding day, even our photographers and venue staff said it was the best theyd ever seen! Everyone was completely in awe of Karen’s talent, and we were so happy to see the vision come to life. It truly exceeded all expectations! It was absolutely delicious - four flavours of gluten free goodness. As a coeliac bride, I knew I had to be careful in my choice of vendor, and Karen was simply the best - obviously not a single person even noticed it was GF, but it meant a hell of a lot to me! We cannot thank Karen enough, we’ve still got our little icing doggy in the freezer with her flower crown on. A cake full of meaning for us, that still impresses me even when I look back on photos! 🥹 thank you so much Karen! 🩷
