The venue is classic old school Seattle. You can feel the history of it and the photo collages on the walls of the back hallway are great. The wait staff are funny and attentive without being overbearing. First time having dinner and what we ordered was pretty good. I had the short ribs with gnocchi and my partner asked for a vegan version of the spaghetti with marinara. I want to try one of their specialties like the lasagna next time. That isn't gluten free, but I like the fact that they do offer a gluten free pasta for some of their dishes.
We went to hear the jazz band. The house sound system was good, but the drummer had a separate amp and appeared to be playing a drum pad on his lap. It sounded like a car dragging full cans that hopped down the road. Very pingy and cringy. It seemed like he was a stand-in drummer who has to pawn his full kit. It was comical and entertaining but painful on the ears at times. Strange that nobody seemed to notice. We will go back for a different band next time.
