My husband and I are from Australia and found Viva Chapata in Lavapies at the end of our stay in Madrid. The staff were fantastic, the atmosphere was relaxed, they had gluten free alternatives clearly marked on their menu, and the coffee was the best we had in Europe. We had planned to return early the next morning but needed to catch our flight, so hope the staff see this review - we’re sorry we didn’t make it back! We recommend highly to anyone. Another place that I found on Happy Cow! It is a very quaint little place in the Lavapies neighborhood with outdoor seating and lots of bar seating and tables indoors. They also have a wide variety of wines and liquors. I came at lunchtime, and they were still serving breakfast until 2:00 and also had a brunch and a la carte menu. If you are gluten-free, the options were a little bit limited, but everything was plentiful, flavorful, and beautifully plated. And the service was great. I highly recommend it.
