Nice team, super tasty fries and gluten-free was no problem at all.

Mega tasty fries for coeliacs on Fehmarn in a cool spot I have to say a huge thank you to the restaurant team. We actually just wanted to order a drink and then the advertisement for the best fries on the island looked so tempting. So I asked if the fries were gluten free. The owner was then incredibly nice and understanding. I have rarely experienced that. He was very knowledgeable about the topic, as a friend of mine also has celiac disease, and I felt like I was being taken seriously at all times. The fries themselves are gluten-free, but the seasoning is not. I "only" ate them salted and they were still incredibly tasty. There was also vegan mayo, ketchup and guacamole. The owner came to the table again on his own initiative with photos of the list of ingredients for the sauces and had me check whether everything was actually gluten-free. They cannot guarantee 100% freedom from contamination, as the fries are usually seasoned next to the deep fryer and, theoretically, the smallest traces could end up in the deep fryer. But we celiacs always have a certain residual risk. I had the feeling that the team really paid attention with the knowledge and I had no complaints afterwards. The packed ice cream is also incredibly tasty, the ingredients are listed on each ice cream for you to read. I can fully recommend a visit - even for non-celiacs 😁!
