Wasabi in Downers Grove is such a unique spot. The vibe is great — you’ve got a lively bar area if you want energy, and a quieter side if you’re in the mood for a relaxed dinner. The menu is what really makes it stand out though. It’s not just sushi (which is always fresh and beautifully done), but also a mix of Thai and Chinese dishes, so there’s truly something for everyone. Service is friendly and attentive, and I love that they offer gluten-free and vegan options, which you don’t always find at places like this. Overall, Wasabi manages to feel both upscale and comfortable — definitely one of the more unique dining options in downtown Downers Grove.

i really had high hopes for this place bc im gluten free but absolutely not😭 they sat us in the bar and i’ve sat in the bar at previous restaurants without the quality of service being affected but it was terrible here. literally no one paid attention to us, it took half an hour before we could get our order in and about 30 minutes to get my gluten free soy sauce since they only had one and another table was using it ! so for 30 mins i was alr super hungry and having to stare at my sushi without eating it 😐. and then my bf ended up getting food poisoning ! the gluten free fried rice was good but unfortunately it’s not worth being treated like ur not a valued customer and just a second thought. other reviews said the service was good so maybe that only applies to tables smh
