We celebrated my mother-in-law's birthday here yesterday. When we made the reservation, we informed the restaurant that this was a birthday celebration. Although our waitress did add a candle to her dessert, we had to inform her of the fact that we were celebrating a birthday. At many previous restaurants that charge these prices, we had a much better experience. IE: At Saskatoon (Our favorite Greenville, SC restaurant) we were greeted to a sign that read Happy Birthday, offered a free slice of cake, etc. At these prices, one would expect a little more effort.
The atmosphere was nice, and our server was topnotch. The food was good, but not anything exceptional. It was about the level of quality a person would expect from cruise ship food. The serving size was genorous. There was a good beer, wine, and spirits selection. The menu had limited choices for vegans, vegetarians, people who dot not eat pork, and people who can not have gluten. I had the salmon, which comes with polenta cakes and fried green tomatoes. I asked for the tomatoes to be left off. When it was served, the tomatoes were on the plate. This would have been disastrous had I been Celiac instead of just gluten sensitive. Our waitress did catch the mistake when she came to check on us, but the kitchen should have paid attention to the order.
Although it was a pleasant meal otherwise, the food did not warrant the prices charged.
