Wheelers Oyster Bar

We had brunch in the bar in the front. The seafood and arancini were great. We also ate delicious rock oysters. Jeannette was the best host, very funny and diligent. She offer me gluten free crackers because I’m Celiac. Finally you can bring your own wine to the restaurant.

I booked a table for two to celebrate my wedding anniversary. My wife is gluten and dairy intolerant. When we arrived a waitress had already written down what my wife was able to eat on the menu that day. The staff were so friendly and the food imaginative and delicious at the same time. It is a small and quirky old fashioned venue; with painted green wood and cream walls. Yet the service is first rate and I defy anyone to find better value in the whole of the South East! Fresh local ingredients are always difficult to beat. It is worth noting that it is a cash only restaurant (there is a handy cash machine a few door away if you forget, as we did) and bring your own wine. If you cannot manage bringing wine or alcohol there is an excellent off-licence opposite. For both of us we paid £60 for three courses and coffee. Treat yourself to the best fish, home smoked salmon and shellfish. You will not regret it!
