White Horse

A cosy quintessential pub, my friend and I visited because we wanted to check out the pub as it featured in the Christmas film The Holiday! The roast dinner was lovely, couldn't fault the food. They have a dedicated gluten free menu (the roast came with gluten free yorkshire puddings and gravy!) and also a vegan option. The thing that let the experience down was the customer service. It was quite slow, we were waiting by the 'wait here to be seated' sign for a while, the pub entrance is quite small so you I'd say staff can see you waiting there, just an acknowledgement would have been nice if they were busy. It took 20 minutes for someone to come over and serve us at the table, despite staff walking past our table. In the end I got up to ask a waiter if it was bar or table service. The table next to us sat down at least 10 minutes after us yet the waiter went straight to them to serve them, rather than us. I also felt like the staff weren't chatty or that friendly, didn't ask us the general questions, how was the meal? thank you for coming etc. I know it doesn't seem like a big deal but a bit of friendly service can really make the experience.
