Yokidomo Sushi & Chicken

This place is a hidden gem with the best sushi in Victoria. Even better, our kids were recently diagnosed with celiac disease and we were delighted to find out that this restaurant can safely prepare gluten-free sushi as well! Our kids are highly sensitive and react to even tiny trace amounts of gluten, so when they were first diagnosed we thought we wouldn't be able to keep eating here (and we were very sad). But then we found out that they're one of the few local sushi restaurants that can actually cater to gluten allergies and/or celiac! We've now taken our kids to dine here and they didn't have any issues. The staff are consistently super friendly and helpful. They seem genuinely delighted to help their customers; once when my youngest daughter was a toddler and my hands were full with her, I even had a staff member carry my takeout order to my car for me! Last time we visited, we were even gifted some fun kids' chopsticks to practice with and take home with us. Definitely a wonderful family friendly restaurant staffed with lovely people! If I had to pick one top favourite local restaurant, it would be this one :) Thank you for being awesome!

I have only ever ordered delivery from here but I have to say Yokidomo has the best practices for allergies at any sushi place that I've come across on the Island so far! I can't have gluten or wheat & I'm so happy I've come across a place that is safe for me to order from, that has a good selection of food safe for dietary restrictions, and is consistently pretty tasty. I order through Uber Eats because of the allergen options and there was a deal for a free miso soup last time. The restaurant left me a note warning me it wasn't gluten-free, which I was very grateful for. • honours requests for no wasabi (processed wasabi *can* have gluten, but the smell also just makes me nauseous) • GF sushi is on plastic wrap (helps with cross-contamination) • GF items clearly labeled on online ordering menu • doesn't include gluten-containing soy sauce • lots of GF options (though only one GF special roll) After being glutened at other places, I'm so happy I found Yokidomo.
