If they could do gluten free pizza, I would give more stars. We are used to Rosati's Pizza in Illinois where they have gluten free options, an outstanding sauce and great flavors with the perfect amount of cheese, toppings and sauce AND they know how to make a SUPER thin crust. We have tried at least 7 different pizza joints so far this year after moving to IA. Most have been extremely disappointing. We were ready to give up. Zoey's and Casy's gas station are the two top recommended places for pizza. Many places we've tried have really thick and uneven crusts and almost no sauce or toppings so that the dough dominates the flavors. Typically these places call their pizza "artisan" Zoey's is a good even pizza with an appropriate amount of sauce and toppings to balance flavors. Zoey's uses a TON of cheese. So much so that it is really chewy like you just warmed up a brick of cheese and took a big bite. My husband loves that. I like enough to cover the pizza but not so thick. I asked for half the regular amount of cheese and they happily accommodated. They WILL put less on if you ask. It is notable that the cheese does not leave it oily. They put on more sauce than several others do thank goodness. The sausage has good flavor. I am diabetic so I have to have minimal carbohydrates. We would order super thin crust at Rosati's and it would be SUPER thin. That means I can enjoy more with less carbohydrates. Unfortunately, the extra thin crust at Zoey's is like a regular thin and too thick for my taste. Overall, I think they are far better than most in this area.
