The Aloft hotel did not meet my expectations for a Marriott hotel. The facilities and room was very dirty, including the elevator. There was chipped paint and broken appliances in the room. The carpet could use a really good deep clean. I know it’s NYC and more specifically Harlem, but the hotel seemed very shady at night, and I am generally not easily spooked being from the city. There was definitely something going on there, like maybe guests “living there” or conducting “business”. I truly am not difficult to please and have stayed many places, but this wasn’t not it. I will not be back to this hotel. It has so much potential though. I have no idea how they have 4 stars, so save yourself the trouble and find somewhere else.

The room was nice and well cleaned. It would be good if the carpet was replaced, as it feels a bit dated. The only real downside was the smell in the corridors. The neighborhood isn’t the best choice for staying in New York, though the location was practical since it’s close to the 125th Street subway station.
