I have a gluten allergy and find it incredibly hard to eat out most of the time. Cat was my waitress today. She was incredibly helpful with the allergen menu. I was a bit worried about the crackers as majority of the time they do contain gluten. This time however they were gluten free! I didn't eat the crackers and opted out asked not to have them, as im always a bit sceptical. Great choice of gluten free options and the waitress was beyond amazing! Thankyou esecially for helping me with my allergies and thankyou for accommodating our party of 7! We don't get out much. The service I received today was amazing 👏 🙌 ☺️

Can't praise this place enough. The service was impeccable, great ambience and food was delicious. Had two dogs with us, so I was initially worried if we could relax.. but we were made to feel comfortable and welcomed the whole time we were there. My son can't have gluten, soya and certain dairy. We usually feel embarassed asking about different food ingredients and most places won't cater for his intolerances nowadays. Once again, they were amazing checking everything and we weren't made to feel awkward at all. Very reassuring. My son enjoyed his meal and did not have any issues after. What a gem of a place. 😊

Noticed the burger and beer offer (Mondays) when walking from the bus. Came back to the Brewhouse for lunch and were glad we did. Welcomed by Lisa, who was very friendly, cheerful and accommodating. Let us taste the beers to make sure we made the right choice. Had cheeseburgers and the vegan burger, with IPA, pilsner and they even had 2 gluten free options for beer. All In all good choice for a day out for family of 5.

As a Coeliac it is always hard for me to relax when dining out. But it wasn't any stress, everyone I spoke to was already aware of it from when we booked the table and they were confident that they could cater for me safely. The service was brilliant. We had a wicked night, food was superb and the atmosphere was excellent. 100% recommend A Canteen and we look forward to returning soon. Thank you

Exquisite little hide out in the centre of Chelmsford.great ambience and wonderful wine. A particularly nice chocolate dessert wine.
We visited one 13th April.rhe staff were so attentive and there was so much choice.
The set menu was great value.
I however, have a gluten and dairy allergy, and was offered a wonderful range of food including a dessert that wasn't sorbet. That really pleased me.
Would I recommend? Absolutely
Always a great meal, we visit often. The food is of very high quality and lots of it. The owner is a celiac, so almost everything can be made Gluten Free. We are here on New Years Eve today, so Happy New Year to you!
