I don’t think I’ll be returning to this cafe anytime soon.
I ordered the Might Mushie ($22) with an added poached egg for an extra $3.50. However, I was disappointed to find only one egg on my plate, and the toast was extremely oily and soggy, having soaked up too much oil from the pesto. The mushrooms were just tiny crumbles, lacking any substantial texture. 😫 Overall, the dish was quite unpleasant.
My friend is allergic dairy and gluten and she said that clearly to the waiter, unfortunately, she found some feta cheese on her plate of food, she had to stop eating and take medication.

Went there recently and the staff were so welcoming, coffee was delicious and the food was eaten in no time, it's a great spot to bring your kids and everyone was so nice. They had a selection of biscuits that I could munch on with my coffee including gluten free options! 10/10 place!!
A local gem, known for its amazing coffee and a selection of treats that make for a delightful breakfast stop while exploring the area.

We had a very disappointing experience at Retro Cafe in Hobart. The gluten-free toast was awful—dry and tough to chew. The avocado was bright green and hard, making it very difficult to eat. To make things worse, the eggs were bland. Even the lattes were too strong and not enjoyable.
Overall, the food and service didn’t meet expectations. Unfortunately, we can’t recommend this place based on our visit.

Very attentive waitstaff with good willingness to attend to dietary restrictions, and a menu carefully indicating gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian & vegan. Attractive interior with pleasant acoustics (really a quiet restaurant). Fish of the day was very fresh (see photo - attractively presented), yet not quite nouvelle cuisine - still using a bit too much salt and oil, but willing to decrease on request. Straddling fine dining style versus quick meal - for example, striving for attractive presentations of all dishes, but using thin paper napkins instead of cloth (especially when located in a hotel, with all that linen service available). A touch tricky to find - it’s within the Salamanca Inn, with only a rather small sign outside.
Charming spot with clean lines, colorful touches, and a cozy courtyard vibe—perfect for a delightful brunch experience!

I had the gluten free pancakes, which were fantastic, and a delicious mocha! The service was friendly from start to finish and, even though the cafe was very busy, we were lucky to get a table in their courtyard. Will definitely come back!
Offering delicious options that exceed expectations, this spot shines with its creativity and attention to dietary preferences.

Wonderful friendly staff! Food is amazing, even some simple scrambled eggs are the best you'll ever have. They are happy to work with dietary requirements, I ordered a gluten and dairy free chicken pesto toastie and it felt like there was nothing I was sacrificing, just delicious! 🙌
