Was all excited to go have steak and frites (or roasted potatoes). Walked half hour to get there. Manager said no fries or roasted potatoes. Our server didn’t know what gluten was until he read my restaurant card in French. He said roasted potatoes were ok but he checked with the chef. Server came back and said he had a dilemma. The manager said one thing and the chef another. We left.
Thank to the staff of Chez Janou who checked with the kitchen so I could enjoy my meal. I was also given a menu with allergens listed for every dish & all questions or concerns were answered promptly. Substitutes were made where necessary & this didn’t change detract from the delicious fare. Obvi there for the chocolate mousse which is a star attraction for me. Feeling most satisfied following the meal & no negative reactions. As someone with coeliac disease, I truly appreciate being able to eat out.
This cozy spot offers a clean, welcoming space ideal for a relaxed lunch. The atmosphere feels like a meeting oasis, complemented by fast, professional service that enhances the overall dining experience for those seeking gluten-free options.
