Nargis is an authentic Uzbek restaurant in Sheepshead bay Brooklyn. I am giving it 5 stars comparing it to other Uzbek restaurants we have been to.
Uzbek cuisine is similar to Turkish.
The waiter was very friendly and professional. But funny thing he offered to show us the pictures of the dishes but we know Uzbek food.
We are New Yorkers. This is a true taste of Brooklyn unlike Williamsburg which is all full of transplants and is like any town USA now.
We sat outside and my hubby liked it so much he took his brother there for his birthday.
They are both Gluten intolerant as of only last year and it is is hard to find truly Gluten free menus. They have Gluten free items marked GF.
We went on Fathers day and forgot it is a holiday where people take their dads out.
So it was quite crowded but service was quick and attentive.
I was not a fan of the bathroom at all and some drunk guy banging and yelling while I was in the bathroom.
It might have been because it was fathers day and his excuse to get drunk and act a fool.
But service and food are superb!
This hidden gem offers perfectly crisp pide and lahmacun, along with aromatic Turkish tea and heavenly chocolate baklava.

I am a huge fan of Turkish cuisine and perhaps very critical when it comes to the quality of the food. I have tried lahmacun and pide in various Brooklyn cafes and restaurants over the last five years, but none of them match the quality of Burchal's. This is a mouthful statement, and I am not shy to assert that the quality of pide and lahmacun at Burchal's is unmatched.
There is a perfect crispiness to the dough, and the meat is very fresh.
Pide and lahmacun were both mouth-watering, bursting with authentic flavors.
Turkish tea was also freshly brewed, and the aroma of black tea filled the sitting area. As the Turkish cuisine enthusiasts will agree, a fresh Turkish tea's fragrant flavor, rich color, and non-bitter aftertaste indicate its freshness, and Burchal cafe mastered this as well. After eating gluten-containing food, it is so satisfying to sip a fresh tea to aid digestion.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention that the chocolate baklava was a gastronomical orgasm in itself. From the first bite of warmed-up baklava, you'll be engulfed by the aroma of high-quality cocoa and pistachios-- a match made in heaven.
The owners should continue to put quality first!
Recommendations for improvement: consider hanging a flashing banner on the door. This little gem is easy to overlook in the neighborhood! While I think it's nice that you're serving pide and lahmacun over newspaper, I'd suggest saving trees, ink and in over-head costs :)
You definitely won my heart and I will be back.
They people here are fast, efficient and friendly. You can ask them what you feel and they will make the perfect shake. The have a humongous variety of shakes. Anything you have they will do. Also the wheat grass shots. They also have a variety of food, non GMO, and gluten free options.
Impossible Burger in Lettuce Wrap was fantastic. I am vegeterian and on a gluten free diet. Found this option on their menu and tried. Also the service was so fast. Highly recommended.
The burgers are great and have a big selection. (Low carb and Gluten free options available) The people very nice and generous! I’ll definitely be back
