The best thing I’ve ever eaten: their gluten free vegan blondie with maple syrup, chocolate chunks, and walnuts. It was AMAZING. Delicious. Incredible. They warmed it up and it was melt in your mouth good. Thank you for having so many good vegan options!!
A cozy spot that’ll have you coming back for more, with local flavors and a menu that offers something for everyone; a must-visit!

I never write reviews but this is definitely the best and my favorite diner i've ever been to. We stumbled upon this place while staying in Montpelier for a skiing/VT winter trip. I am gluten free by preference and I was happily surprised to see gluten free french toast on the menu. It's also made from local bread that they sell at the co-op. Absolutely delicious with the VT maple syrup they serve. The coffee also tastes really good and so is everything else we got every day we came (We loved it so much we came back every morning) The homefries are so yummy and the maple meats are insanely good. My boyfriend and I kept waking up excited to come here to eat for breakfast because it's so good and affordable. The staff are also so friendly and cute. Do yourself a favor and eat at wayside it's worth every penny. Places like this are hard to come by where we live so we are so grateful we found it. Will absolutely come back to Montpelier to eat here!
Coffee cornerstone of Montpelier. Awesome staff! Fresh, made to order light food, good pastry, cookies, and a wide variety of hot and cold beverages. Great gluten free options.
Extremely busy, but the 30 min wait (with made reservation) was worth every minute. Our waitress was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and had a very kind smile. We had 2 gluten free requesters in our party and she (and the restaurant) accommodated them to the fullest. Our appetizers, which consisted of some of the biggest mussels I have ever enjoyed and eaten in Vermont, were engulfed by a garlic, buttery brine that was too die for. Our protein for the main course were several perfectly prepared and cooked porterhouses, and chicken marsala and salmon. The chicken marsala was succulent, with just the right amount of mushroom in every bite. My wife had the salmon, it was tasty, but it was on the dryer side of the spectrum. The cocktails were blended and mixed to everyone's satisfaction and was extremely refreshing and crisp. The bill was on the higher side but it is to be expected as the quality of the food and the location is prime. I will go out of my way to eat there again, no matter the wait....
Generous portions and a cozy vibe make for a delightful breakfast spot that's definitely worth a detour off Barre St!

Tasty, diner-style eggs dished out in generous portions and crisply perfect gluten-free toast, two thick slices. The breakfast sandwich and coffee were also good. Very pleasant atmosphere and service too. Worth the turn off Barre St! I’m looking forward to returning for lunch.
