I LOVED this place! Such a mix of customers, from farmers to blue collar workers to college students to hippies. I so appreciated the many vegan options--very pleasantly surprised as the restaurant doesn't look like it would cater to vegans. Also gluten-free options! Fast, efficient, competent service. The place was packed on a Sunday morning. Also, where there was an option for a version of the dish without the meat, the price was lower, which is only fair, as you're getting less. Fancy restaurants like Rubaiyat in Decorah did NOT give me this option, despite me asking. The only thing they offered was to not charge me extra for the gluten-free version.

Excellent gluten free bun with my sandwich and great potato salad. Much appreciated after a long day traveling. Our waiter, he goes to Luther, was so nice. TY

We are always looking for restaurants that serve healthy real food that also offers gluten free and vegetarian/vegan options and this one is excellent. I loved the bowl I ordered: the perfect blend of ginger, peanut and cilantro atop rice with broccoli, pickled onions and shredded carrot with a flavorful sauce…yum. Our whole family enjoyed our meals. We also got cookies and my only regret is that I didn’t buy more. The GF ginger molasses one I got was so good. We live far away, but I will keep this on my list of places to return. If only all towns had a place like this! Thank you

I expected better. The place and bathrooms were nice, but the food was mediocre. I was most disappointed that, despite me asking, they did not give me a break on the price of a menu item that had an option to leave out the meat. It was good they offered this option, but as you're getting less of the most expensive part of the dish, you should get a couple of dollars off. Most places do this. And it encourages vegetarianism or veganism which is better for our planet. What they did offer was no extra charge on the gluten-free version, but why was there an extra charge for gluten free at all? It usually isn't more expensive in a restaurant. For a restaurant with such a reputation and so expensive, this seemed mean. The chef's excuse for not giving me a break on the price for leaving out the meat was that this was not how the dish was meant to be prepared. That seemed feeble. Then don't offer that as an option and make another menu item that is vegan or vegetarian! Service wasn't great either, but it was the server's first day and she tried. She made a few mistakes and didn't know if the fish was sustainably caught either. I don't blame her as much as poor training or selection of employee. Do better. One of the friends I was dining with is a writer who has given good publicity for this restaurant and recommended it. Not sure she will continue to.
