A cozy local restaurant that offers their unique take on classic American cuisine. They are located in a charming building with plenty of street parking available surrounding the establishment. For nicer weather, there is a side patio with tables shaded with umbrellas and their main dining area.
The selection of food is perfect for lunch or dinner and not overwhelming, plus they have a full bar. They serve plenty of local beer and cider, which is an excellent way to sample what the area has to offer. The majority of the menu is gluten-free, and they do offer gluten-free substitutions for sandwiches and pasta. The real highlight of the meal are their spudsters - mashed potatoes made into little conical shapes with a piping bag, probably frozen, and then deep fried. They have seasonings and sauces to choose from to create endless tasting combinations. Absolutely my new favorite appetizer, and I would come back just for these.
Everyone enjoyed their lunch and we were very happy we decided to stop. We will definitely be by again when in the area.
Eccentric vibes and an eclectic menu make this underrated spot a go-to for delicious brunch and creative cocktails in Portsmouth.

I recently visited The Friendly Toast in Boston’s Back Bay, and it quickly became one of my favorite brunch spots. The moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by a vibrant, retro-inspired atmosphere filled with eclectic decor that added a fun and welcoming vibe to the dining experience.
The menu was impressively diverse, catering to various dietary preferences, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. I decided to try the “Hash Quiche,” which was a delightful combination of cheesy eggs accompanied by a fresh fruit salad . The flavors were rich and satisfying, making it a standout dish.
My friend opted for the “Breakfast Burrito,” which was generously filled and packed with flavor. The portion sizes were substantial, ensuring we left feeling full and content. We also shared the “French Toast Monster,” a cinnamon raisin French toast served with bacon, eggs, and home fries. It was a perfect blend of sweet and savory, and even though we got it to-go, it remained fresh and delicious .
The service was prompt and friendly, with staff members who were attentive and eager to ensure we had a great experience. Despite the bustling environment, our food arrived quickly, and the staff maintained a cheerful demeanor throughout our visit.
Overall, The Friendly Toast offers a unique and enjoyable dining experience with its creative menu, generous portions, and lively atmosphere. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable brunch spot in Boston.

First time going for lunch on a Saturday and it was a great experience! The service was wonderful and the food and drinks were delicious. I consider the menu to be more “modern” Mexican with some really cool and unique offerings and solid portions. I highly recommend the confit pork belly taco, masa fried shrimp taco, and OG tofu taco. 🌮 I also love that their soft shells are made from gluten-free blue corn tortillas and that they have vegetarian options as well. Very eager to go back and try their brunch!
A hidden gem with diverse menu options, quick service, and a clean vibe makes it a must-visit for any food lover!

Stopped in after hitting up the Kittery Outlets. Went around 3:00 so the place was close to empty. The food and drinks were AMAZING. I got the Burger with an adult milk shake. My wife (gluten free) got the Reuben burger with the apple pie margarita. My wife said it was one of the best burgers she's ever had. Server was accommodating with my wife's gluten allergy and to d came out quick. We will be coming back ASAP.
My favorite coffee shop in town!! Love the baked goods - the gluten free options are awesome too. The coffee is always delicious and a large selection of tea. Very cute space with goodies to buy. Would be great for gifts!!
Came back and tried the Tchaikovsky and it was delicious!!

A go to place for the Gluten Free folks in our family. Most of the battered/fried seafood option have a GF variant that's really well done. Overall high quality and great location.

Outdoor seating was a great choice for lunch. Our server was friendly and helpful. My beet salad was fantastic! The lobster roll was a little wet and alot of celery. Cocktails were great! Good variety of menu items and gluten fee choices, too.

Great gluten free options!! I loved today’s visit. I ordered the fun size veggie Bennie with a side of corned beef hash. The hash was on the spicy side which was to my taste. . The Cemita sandwich and speciality fries lived up to the positive reviews. Apologies the picture was taken after enjoying 1/2 the meal.

First, let me say, how delighted and surprised at the growth in Portsmouth, NH. Second, for me, La Maison Navarre is an especially wonderful addition because I miss those precious moments on business trips enjoying scrumptious pastries and coffee in Paris. La Maison Navarre was a genuine delight in every aspect, more so because my granddaughter was over the moon with the gluten free Paris Brest. She resides in Boston and flies for American Airlines. You can be assured the good word will be spread far and wide about your lovely cafe.

Hearth boasts an impressive exterior and gorgeous interior. It is warm and opulent, with cafeteria style dining. Given few gluten free options, I ordered in the cafe/ bakery section: a turkey BLAT sandwich on gluten free bread; it came with house made pickle slices and chips. It was not clear if the fryer was dedicated for chips or gluten free foods. I waited about 15 minutes for my sandwich before seeing it sitting on the counter in front of the cashier; he had not called my name. The sandwich was tasty, but $15 felt steep. I noticed bus bins full of dirty dishes and overflowing trash. I really wanted to enjoy my lunch at Hearth, but for me, it wasn't worth the visit.

OMG! They have delicious gluten free and dairy free cauliflower crust AND vegan cheese. Bonus - they carry GF beer! The GF DF pizza was so yummy, my husband even stole a piece. Thank you Dough! It has a cozy, fun vibe and a large bar with seating. We'll be back often and are excited to try out the patio next summer!
Overall the food was good. We were two families. We ordered a variety of dishes. Many dishes for children and in general. A very rich menu. Gluten free pizza made from cauliflower dough was not good. Not fully done. We did not enjoy it. We also ate the fish and chips dish better than it. Felt not made on the spot but more of a frozen bag. The burger was good. Good pizza too. The chips as a side dish were spicy and very salty. disappointment. By and large we ate in better places. I don't particularly recommend coming.

My wife has celiacs and we both are allergic to shellfish, Heberts is very accommodating to both are dietary restrictions and the different rooms are like going to 3-4 different restaurants but with the same great service, food & coffee!
Amazing roast beef sandwich! And they have a huge gluten free bun! I just have a wheat allergy so I'm not sure about cross contamination but it was a nice surprise.
