Stopped by the take away counter and asked about GF options. She immediately asked if it was for a coeliac and when I said yes she said the cafe or the restaurant were a safer bet just because of the flour that was everywhere in the takeaways prep area. Over at the cafe the guy confirmed all GF items have their own fryer and they take extra precautions for coeliacs as they get quite a few through. I ordered the sweet potato fries which came out as a generous serve, piping hot and super crispy. Really nice, so good in fact that my son who doesn't like sweet potato fries, kept snagging them and said I should tell everyonešŸ˜‚ too bad I live so far away, would love to try more!

Clean, comfortable well spaced out seating. Clear blinds kept the cold wind out. Service was good. Cocktail was delicious. Entrees tasted good but we’re way too big for one person (garlic bread and calamari). Nasi Goreng main was tasty but again way too much rice. Kung Pao looked and tasted good but was too messy to eat with your fingers (only way to peel the saucy prawns). Good to see a reasonable number of gluten-free options on the menu.

This week’s restaurant review in the Redland City News: SITUATED in the scenic Raby Bay Marina – Cleveland’s best kept secret – Chop ā€˜n Chill offers stunning views of the water, which sets the perfect backdrop for a relaxing dining experience. The ambiance was cozy and vibrant, with tasteful dĆ©cor that perfectly matched the easy-going yet lively vibe of the restaurant. What really stood out to me during my time at Chop ā€˜n Chill was the level of service. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the staff, and it was evident that they genuinely cared about providing a great dining experience. The owner, Dave, or ā€œRicho,ā€ took the time to sit with me at my table, and it truly elevated the entire experience. He wasn’t just checking in for the sake of it—he genuinely wanted to make sure I was enjoying my meal and to chat about the inspiration behind the restaurant. His enthusiasm for the food and the business was contagious, and it’s clear that he’s passionate about creating a welcoming, high-quality experience for all his guests. It’s rare to find that kind of hands-on ownership these days, and it adds something special to the dining experience. As for the menu, Chop ā€˜n Chill impresses with its diverse offering that blends the fresh, bold flavours of Southeast Asia with the hearty, smoky tastes of the Americas. There’s truly something for everyone, with excellent options for vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-free diners, so you know you're in good hands if you have dietary restrictions. I decided to try the Seafood Chowder, a dish I had heard great things about. The rich, creamy base was velvety smooth without being overly heavy, and it had just the right amount of seafood to bring everything together without overwhelming the palate. The chowder featured an assortment of fresh seafood—salmon, prawns, scallops, crab and tender barramundi—that were cooked perfectly and complemented by a hearty, flavourful broth. The chowder was served alongside a slice of toasted sourdough, which was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, providing a perfect contrast to the smooth soup. The sourdough was great for dipping, allowing me to soak up every bit of that delicious broth. It was the perfect dish for a cool night by the marina and a wonderful showcase of the restaurant’s ability to blend comfort food with high-quality ingredients. Aside from the chowder, I’m excited to come back and explore more of their unique menu. With options that span from Mexican-inspired dishes to hearty smoked meats, Chop ā€˜n Chill has something for every palate. All in all, Chop ā€˜n Chill at Raby Bay is a standout restaurant. The combination of excellent service, a beautiful setting, and creative, mouthwatering dishes makes it a must-visit in the area.

Just back from The Bean and Leaf...soo disappointed. Just retired and looking for a regular local brekkie/coffee spot. I am dairy and gluten free. I ordered eggs on Gluten free toast. It came out with 2 little serves of butter. Yep! :( We then both tasted our mugs of coffee. Huh?? was that coffee? question: do mugs usually have 2-3 shots of coffee? well not here. I couldn't taste it. I didn't bother to say anything....if a coffee shop can't get that right...then we'll vote with our feet. We won't be coming back. Big mistake Bean and Leaf!! - coulda had 2 more regular customers.

Heaps of seating. Nice vibe and lots of parking too. There were lots of treats, cakes, slices and cookies available including some gluten free options. Our 2 Coffees took a while to be made but served at the table. Two medium coffees and two kids milk shakes cost $22 which felt like a lot given the small size of the milk shakes. Coffee tasted butter and was super hot. :(
