Savor our delicious coffee served by friendly staff who greet you with a smile. As Asian customers, we felt genuinely welcomed, despite doubts from previous reviews. With plenty of tasty options, including gluten-free and vegetarian dishes, this cafe in Akaroa is a must-visit spot.
A quirky spot brimming with second-hand treasures and a charming vibe, featuring cozy indoor and outdoor seating alongside roaming chickens.

Quirky place that sells second hand stuff and antiques as well as food and coffee. They have a vegan gluten free breakfast option of baked beans, tomato, hash brown, and patty that you can have any time of day. For non-vegans the bagel is really nice.
With an amazing vibe and quick service, it's the go-to spot for a delightful break while exploring, plus the coffee is a must-try!

We got back late from one tour and had to rush to another, but needed something to eat quickly in between. The manager squeezed us in even though they had another large group/party. Our food was out super fast, and it was AMAZING. I wish I could be eating their fried rice constantly for the rest of my life. The pad Thai was also incredible, and both were gluten free. Staff knowledgeable about GF/celiac. If we had stayed in Akaroa any longer, we would have eaten here for every meal.
Charming cafe with a nostalgic vibe, offering great coffee and savory muffins that hit the spot—perfect for a cozy break!

Served by a lovely lady. Great coffee and delicious gluten-free savoury muffin. Very pleasant ambience. Love the display of food containers, which brought back childhood memories, especially the tea box! Definitely recommend The Peninsular General Store!
