It really breaks my heart to be leaving this 1 star review. Evans is usually incredible, with the best fish and chips in town. HOWEVER, last time we ordered from them the fish had gone bad. We called to let them know, and the person on the phone assured us that he had taken down our information and that our next order of the same dishes would be free. Today when we placed our order, we were told that they had no record of that conversation, and that at most they could comp us one of the dishes. We pushed back, saying that it's not our fault that their co-worker didn't properly note our information (and they also noted that they'd just changed their system over, so it might have gotten lost in the shuffle). In the end, we were left to pay for bad fish last month with no compensation from the restaurant.
We're all for supporting a great local business, so this situation sucks. We order from Evan's every month and have easily spent thousands there over the past five years. It's a shame to have to find another gluten free fish and chips place now.
Discover a hidden gem where deliciously crafted dishes impress everyone, making it an exciting spot for both locals and visitors alike.

I was really impressed with this establishment and the fact that it was celiac friendly, especially for fast food. I had a delicious chicken club wrap and fries. The portion size was huge, it tasted great, and it was reasonably priced. The cook and waitress were very friendly. My friend and I went around lunchtime and it was busy, though I'm not surprised. 🙂 I will definitely be back here next time I'm in Truro!!
A short drive from Peggy's Cove, this spot promises amazing, diverse meals in a cozy setting, enhanced by local art and an inviting atmosphere.

Was so happy we found this place. As soon as we entered and told the hostess I was interested in ordering gluten free it was the best experience. She advised that some of the staff were either gluten intolerant or Celiac and they had a thorough understanding about cross contamination etc. We ordered fish and chips and they were amazing!!! .Having Celiac Disease I usually have a heightened sense of anxiety when eating out so when I find a place that makes you feel comfortable it kind of makes me feel a little emotional. I would highly recommend this restaurant to all but especially those with issues related to gluten.

Found this restaurant through google when looking for gluten free. Had the fish and chips and it was the best fish and chips I have had. They have a separate deep fryer for GF. The staff were great and it was a very busy Friday afternoon in the rain. Great experience all around. Now if they had a location in Calgary, Alberta it would be perfect.😉

I had been to Side Hustle before twice and had such a lovely experience.
So I’m not thrilled to write this. But feel the need to share as I am concerned about what happened to me.
I popped into eat some lunch during burger week, and they only had a burger week menu. Really nothing else on it. Which as a small place I guess is expected.
I was about to head out, and the server recommended the Thai chilli chicken, and I said I can’t eat really spicy food. I then asked if the gluten free Thai chilli chicken could be made less spicy as it was the ONLY thing on the menu that wasn’t beef, or tofu that could be made gluten free.
The server said yes - the kitchen could not add the spicy chili jam to the burger. And I was like great I’ll have that.
The burger came out, everything looked good.
3 bites in and I can barely breathe.
They included the spicy chili jam, and as someone who can’t do super spicy items I nearly choked in the restaurant. It was quite embarrassing actually, I was coughing so hard I had tears streaming down my face. Made worse by how echoey the bar is itself.
The server finally came by after I was coughing for several minutes and I told him there is spicy chili jam on this. He says he will get them to remake it.
I had gotten nauseous from coughing so hard I don’t even want to eat more of the food that isn’t spicy (aka the fries I paid extra for)… So I just say no, thanks. You can take it. I had only eaten a handful of fries and a couple bites of the burger.
It was pretty bad, I was pretty embarrassed.
And I wasn’t even finished my cider before the bill was handed to me.
They charged me for 50% of the meal, burger and fries even though I didn’t eat most of it.
I likely should have said something to the server however I was already embarrassed from coughing so loudly.
I likely will take a second thought before heading back as everything is expensive now, and I’d like to eat what I pay for.
With a standout menu and fresh, locally sourced ingredients, this spot is a must-visit for a memorable dining experience that keeps guests coming back!

Went with some friends as two of us are celiac. This is an extremely easy place to eat gluten free! We were very pleased with the options. Maya was our server and she was absolutely lovely, she was very educated about the menu and was able to answer all of our questions. It was clear that she took the allergies very seriously as well.
The gnocchi didn't have a ton of flavour but admittedly we had to order it without the scallops, so I imagine that would change things. The kitchen accidentally made it with gluten but the mistake was caught before it got to our table and was very quickly remade!
The rissotto was incredible, and is naturally gluten free already. We will definitely go back to try the gf creme brûlée. Thanks!!
A family-friendly spot with a lively atmosphere, fun activities for kids, and beautiful waterfront views offers unique dining experiences for everyone.

My wife & I recently ate here & it’s always a struggle to find a spot that is fully committed to be GF & not “gluten sensitive”. A lot of Roy’s options have GF availability with separate fryers that are dedicated for GF item’s. I myself got their breakfast special & my wife got the GF chocolate pancakes & bacon and the service was wonderful & friendly!

Dedicated gluten free fryer for fries! I had pan fried scallops (delicious) and my husband had clams (which he raved over). Interesting story about the Longmire family, my grandmother was a Longmire from the area, I’d love to know the connection.
