Coeliac safe afternoon tea! Knowledgeable and understanding staff. Delicious gluten free afternoon tea almost identical to 'normal' afternoon tea. Gluten free sandwiches, fruit or plain scone and selection of cakes.
Stopped for lunch. Had a blue burger, whilst my fiance had a cheeseburger (gluten-free). Really good, with lovely chips and a small salad leaves, with a tasty honey and mustard dressing.
Also saw a bit of live acoustic music in the garden. Made the time very relaxing. Was not busy at the time, so enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere.
Lovely place to go, gluten free also which is a big thing for my wife,
If I was going to offer any tips Guy's can you get a dedicated chip fryer so coeliac can also enjoy your great chips
Many thanks for a lovely meal last night we shall return
What's not to like. Fabulous location, right on the beach with views across to the isle of Wight, the Needles Eye Cafe sits next to a large childrens play ground with facilities for both infants and older children. The sea is a stones throw (and there are lots to throw!!) away. A reasonable amount of indoor seating and clean toilet facilites and outdoor seating for better days. There is also a lot of public benches all along the front on which to eat a bag of chips or have an icecream. There chicken nuggets are the best around and will spoil you for anywhere else!! They also have a very nice gluten free carrot cake but it sells out fast.
Welcomed us in with two very muddy dogs (is the new forest and typical English autumn weather š§ after all ), great coffee, amazing bacon sarnies, the dogs concur š¶š¤£, even better one was gluten free bread. We shall be back, what a little gem š
Wonderful location, lovely food including a great gluten free menu. Service a little slow, food took a while, but still worth it for the views of the river and gardens.
So this was a lovely little pub outside (?) Lymington. The food was fine. Probably not the best quality, given the price paid. The pub was nice. Had a good decor and a good atmosphere but on the expensive side.
We had someone with celiacs disease in our group who was upfront with her condition and confirmed that the gf menu was gf. When the meal arrived, there was some confusion with the wait staff about the allergens actually in the food they'd served. Despite the menu saying the burger was gf, the menu or ingredients had recently been changed or updated and the staff didn't seem sure, which meant the person couldn't eat the food. After a fair amount of dithering from the staff, the person with celiacs disease was served something else after confirming several times that it was gf. Despite the faff, confusion and disappointment, there was limited apologies given despite the close call. What allergens are in what food really feels like the sort of thing that should be covered in the staff training and something that everyone in the team should be aware of. Left a bit of a bad taste in our mouth...pun intended.
Utterly faultless. My partner is coeliac and they didnāt even bat an eyelid!! Staff were simply charming and the food was SUBLIME. Delicious wine and just the most beautiful evening. Dietary requirements arenāt a thing⦠theyāre just not phased which made eating out a complete pleasure. Thank you!!
Visited Lymington on 27.05.2023 for a family funeral. Decided to make a few days out exploring the wonderful South Coast too. Were looking for Gluten Free fish and chips and although there are several fish and chip shops around, surprisingly none we came across between Milford on Sea and Lymington offered these. We were so delighted to eventually find that The Elderflower Restaurant had an ' A' frame board on the pavement outside offering takeaway Fish and Chips, asked if they fried Gluten Free and yes they did. We were expecting the usual box of fish and chips to take away and asked if we could sit outside at their wooden tables and chairs and yes, were permitted too. We sat down waiting for our order and a lovely lady came out and asked if we would like cutlery, napkins and plates instead of the boxes to enjoy our meal at no extra cost. A warm summer evening made most enjoyable by The Elderflower going above and beyond for customers, we also enjoyed a beer and soft drink too., obviously extra cost. The fish we were informed was caught in the Solent, just yards away and was so fresh, tasty and delicious along with the chips, pease and tartare sauce also provided with the fish and chips. At £15.50 per portion, definitely worth the price and if we lived closer would visit more. Such a delightful restaurant in a fantastic location thank you for a memorable meal. Highly recommend the staff, food and brilliant customer service. Apologies for no photograph, after such a day, we were just so hungry and ate them before thinking about taking one!
