Went with friends for a weeknight dinner. The space is beautiful after the renovations and the food and service were excellent. We appreciated that there were many options available gluten free. Will definitely be returning!

First of all, they are to be commended for eclectic menu, the great service, the good ambiance, their willingness to accommodate gluten-free restrictions (almost every pasta dish comes with a gluten-free pasta option, as well as gluten free buns), portion size and their eagerness to please. It seemed like a happening place, and at lunch, they were already taking reservations for dinner service. That is a good sign.
Why the reason for the three stars? It was the food. It was made with fresh ingredients -- saw them in the kitchen sink being washed. However both of our dishes were lacking spices. I had a Caesar salad with a broiled chicken breast on top. The dressing with thin, non-creamy and I couldn't taste any garlic in it. My partner had the pasta, and the ingredients were fine, however there was just a small bit of chicken and the sauce was watery, again with no spices that should make your mouth zing. It was almost as if the lack of spices in the food was catering to least common denominator of unsophisticated palates for the general populace of ordinary food eaters.
I really hated to give three stars only, because this place tries really hard, and the effort should be recognized. I would love to see this place succeed. And oh, by the way, the crème brûlée dessert was really good!!
Charming waterside spot with a vibrant atmosphere that feels like a European getaway, perfect for a casual yet delightful dining experience.

Such a great experience. Food was amazing! Nice ambience! Staff was very friendly and helpful. My husband is allergic to gluten and they had a range of gluten free options in their menu. Most of the sandwiches can be taken with gluten free bread. We loved the Christmas special drinks as well. Highly recommend!

Expect a quick take-away experience with tasty options and a chill vibe, though the service can rush you if you’re not paying attention.

The small chicken burrito I got for lunch was excellent. Got it with blackbeans, cheese and all the veg and extra guac.
They list gluten free options honestly saying which ones are celiac friendly.
There are a few tables to sit but it's geared towards take-away.
Staff were friendly but spoke so quickly I had to ask them to repeat several times and one of them went from handing cash to handling food without changing their gloves.
Breakfast here is a winner with homemade treats and consistent coffee refills, showcasing a warm approach to unique dietary needs.

Had a great breakfast, 2 eggs, home fries, sausage, and French toast..... Mmmm.... my wife is a celiac and they cooked her omelette including Bacon in separate pans. She very much appreciated how they looked after her. The coffee refills were consistent.. 👍. Although I didn't try the desserts, they looked awesome, homemade pies, butter tarts, date squares and more.
We had another great breakfast with great coffee, picked up some of their homemade date squares, very good.
Experience a local gem known for its fresh, homemade delights and a cozy vibe that keeps the community coming back for more.

Jordan and her team prepared a wonderful catering menu for a private party we hosted. Fresh, thoughtful and delicious salads, charcuterie (all gluten free) and dessert scones (they were devoured along with strawberry compote and whipped cream). My guests raved about her offerings. Highly recommend the Picnic Cafe!
All food is excellent. Burgers, chicken burger(all white meat done in house), egg rolls from Golden Palace Ottawa, dill pickle spears, mozzarella sticks, jalapeño poppers, onion rings. Gluten free burger available on request!
This place is a culinary gem. Great variety, gluten free pasta option, and the best spaghetti carbonara I have ever eaten—including in Italy!!! Can be crowded even week nights, but staff very accommodating. Reservations a good idea, but they’ll take care of you if you don’t have a chance to make one.
Being new to the area, I had emailed a few weeks ago to ensure that they could accommodate my wife’s requirement for a gluten free meal. Penny assured me they work with the customer to ensure a safe experience
We went today, and we’re not disappointed. The service was cheerful and I rushed, even though we showed up less than an hour to closing. The meal (Eggs Benedict and Tex Mex Breakfast bowl) was excellently prepared and generous - no way we could finish it in one sitting. We have a new favourite breakfast/brunch place, and people with whom we enjoy spending time
