They have great ice cream. Their banana split is my husband's favorite, and my kids love all the candy and coffee drinks, but boy oh boy is the gluten free coffee cake is the BEST‼️😋😋 Thank you Pops!!
I drive by Rabel’s once or twice a month. Recently I had someone tell me they have the best brisket so needed to try for myself. I emailed ahead of time to ensure that the meats and sauces were gluten free which was confirmed. I ordered a variety of meats to go at the restaurant while my dog waited in the car (turned on with the AC blasting). I let the front staff know I needed to step out while I waited for my food and someone from the back came forward to let me know he had been keeping an eye out from the kitchen and my dog was doing well. Of course I couldn’t wait until getting home to try the food. BEST turkey I have had from a BBQ restaurant ever. Moist and perfectly seasoned. Pork ribs and brisket were also so good! Nothing disappointed me about this trip. Loved the friendly staff, the atmosphere was relaxed and the food was delicious. The homemade style pickles pushed my experience over the top.
We needed a place in La Vernia for my celiac daughter to eat. This place was recommended as an owners daughter has to eat gluten free, and can eat there. All that said- we all had their gluten free spinach bacon quiche with spinach salad and half deviled egg. It was AMAZING!
My very gluten sensitive daughter had no issues from eating here at all. We have since been back a few times and it’s always delicious and she is safe. Pretty sure this is about the only place in La Vernia she can safely eat. I plan to list this place on the Find Me Gluten free app. I just hope they increase the number of gluten free dishes in this little gem.
Note: I only thought the name was Hyde’s Hen House. Chicks sandwich shop didn’t register to me as the same place… now I know! Check them out.
We had a great experience eating here with my in-laws. My daughter has celiac disease and we heard they only served corn tortillas so that was great. (Flour upon request for an extra charge). We had 16 people and they put tables together and seated us quickly. We ordered a couple of full chicken dinners and they were great! My daughter had no problems so I’m happy to say they are pretty safe for gluten free people! Excellent food for a very good price!
