I go to Barbados regularly for both work and to visit my brother, but for some reason have never been to Cafe Sol. My brother recommended is for my wife and I so we went one night.
It's right at the entrance of St. Lawrence gap and has a pretty great setting. If you can get a seat on the verandah area you can get a really nice view of the sea and some of the gap, which at night is really stunning. The place in general is kinda small, but I think it's better described as cozy. And it helps to give the whole place a really nice lively atmosphere with some pretty good music to go along with it all.
The options for food is pretty wide, which is really nice to say the very least. And with my with having a gluten intolerance it's great to have all the corn based options you would expect from a Mexican place. The food we ordered came out pretty quickly, especially considering it was pretty busy. And the wait staff who was always on the move made sure they checked in on us and kept our drinks fresh and full. And the food itself, well it was simply amazing. We had a terrific meal and enjoyed the view of the sea for a while.
As for the cost, it's a really good deal for the food (both quality and quantity), and great service we got. I most certainly will have to add Cafe Sol to my list of place to hit up whenever I'm in Barbados.
