Homestead Steak House

Stopped here about an hour before closing after driving for the afternoon on a work trip. I got a mushroom and swiss burger without a bun, as a "lettuce wrap" to be gluten free, with sweet potato fries, and I gotta say, those were some of the best sweet potato fries I've ever had. The burger was awesome, too. The service was fast - they weren't very busy late on a Tuesday - and they were super friendly. They had a great selection of Christmas music playing - not all cheesy ones like you hear at grocery stores, there were classics mixed with new ones and it wasn't too loud, along with a nice heater right near our table. This was a great little place to stop on our way into town and I would recommend it!

My husband and I both ordered the skirt steak, salad bar and potatoes. Asked for the steak to be cooked to medium and then asked about salad bar and that I needed gluten free. Salad bar was very good but evidently their salad dressing was not gluten free. I will take responsibility for that one for not double checking and I definitely paid for that! Unfortunately our steaks were not what we expected either. They were literally raw through out. When the waitress asked how our meal was and my husband told her, her response was “I’m sorry” We both just looked at her and then she finally asked if we wanted to send it back. We decided not to but very sad when a steakhouse does not know how to cook a steak!
