If you know what IHOP is, you know it's like a Shoney's but without a buffet and with lots of breakfast.
Recent trips there have ended without eating due to wait time and apparent staff difficulties in managing incoming orders online for pick-up and delivery mixed with in-person diners.
Several of the booths are worn or sunken and sometimes the syrup bottles leak out the threading of the lids.
Also, it's a bit off-putting to hear the staff conversations at the kitchen area as they sometimes are not great topics for restaurants.
The wait staff is hit or miss, but that is the same as most places.
We recently started going when we discovered they serve gluten-free options. The GF batter isn't too shabby, and our kids really like getting to ingest copious amounts of sugar.
Look, you don't go to IHOP for amazing service or food quality. You go because you want breakfast and pancakes and simple coffee at any time of day. It's like a highway diner, but feels a tad more family friendly.
Go in your sweats, leave feeling comfortable still. Really, they could improve on quite a few things at our local one here, but IHOP is for the people, by the people.
I'd say what you get almost mirrors what you pay (it's a bit pricey for what it is, but then again, what isn't in recent years...?!?).
