Lucy's Coffee Shop

This is the second time my friend and I have met here in recent weeks and can safely say it's the friendliest cafe I've visited in ages. Our waitress could not have been nicer or more professional, even when we admittedly lingered gabbing at a busy time, we'd eaten, after a good period of time she subtly asked if we'd finished with our glasses which i thought was really nicely done. It's obviously very popular with people taking their grandchildren out for lunch and by the time we left there was a wait for tables at lunchtime. The food! We had to return because my friend is now addicted to the gorgeous homemade quiche and slaw, which I'm sure is becoming famous. My delicious chicken and sweetcorn soup was incredibly tasty with a really good balance of flavours and gorgeous texture, they even had gluten free bread on request. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is it's not exactly cheap on some dishes however I'm sure other prices reflect the quality of ingredients.

It’s always a pleasure to visit Lucy’s Coffee Shop, situated inside the Southwood Garden Centre. There’s a great menu with lots of sweet treats (and icecream) to tempt you if you are looking for coffee and a cake rather than a meal. Gluten free cakes are available and also gf toast etc The cafe is large and spacious with plenty of room between tables; there’s also a great outdoor area but today’s cold and very wet conditions meant that we all stayed indoors. Toilets are towards the back of the cafe and there is an access ramp from the garden centre into the cafe rather than steps. Staff and cheerful, polite and professional with very quick service.
