I’ve heard a lot of great things about Middle Child from random Social Media posts and decided to stop bye to see what the rave was about. When I walked in, it was SUPER PACKED and after trying it myself, I can see why. During my visit I tried the Strawberry Milk Matcha, Pastrami, Egg, & Cheese, and “Olivia’s Big Pancake” and long story short, it was all delicious. Although it was very packed, the staff still made sure that I was comfortable and it was very clean. One of the things that stood out to me the most was an employee named Jason. He was the person who placed my order at the register and he was very kind and informative. Another note I’d like to add is that the Menu is very easy to read and even has color coding on items that were vegetarian friendly and have the option to be gluten free. I’d give them 10/10 stars but I can only give 5 haha.

The line for breakfast moved quickly. I have a gluten allergy. They offer gluten free bread! They have an area separate from the rest of the kitchen to make the food. The classic breakfast sandwich was amazing! When they say the eggs are fluffy, they are really fluffy! The people who work here are friendly and hard working. Atmosphere is laid back. If you want a great breakfast, I'd highly suggest this place!

I’ve been here more than once and personally have never experienced greatness. I’m clearly an outlier. But on my first visit, I ordered whitefish salad platter on gluten free toast, and received a single thin slice of GF bread with the meagerest schemer of whitefish salad imaginable. And I was upcharged for GF! I left, still hungry for breakfast. Then recently I went to try out the pastrami sandwich. It was so devoid of flavor that I wondered if I’d been stricken by a sudden cold that deadened my tastebuds. It was tasteless and underwhelming to say the least. Now, I’m from Bklyn and also lived for two years next to Zingermans in Ann Arbor MI, so perhaps my Reuben standards are exceedingly high. Nevertheless, I stand by my assessment. Warehouse Cafe in Fairmount has a far better pastrami Reuben. Go there instead!
