We were asked if we had any allergies, I explained that I have coeliac so I need to know the gluten free options as they're not specified on the menu. Staff attempted to help me, but didn't seem to know what gluten was and suggested burgers, wraps and pitta bread to me. I asked if they were gluten-free, they checked on their app and realised that it is in their bread and they don't have any GF alternatives.
So I chose just chicken and some sides. I ordered separately to my friend, who ordered a wrap and garlic bread.
When my meal arrived, there was a little flag in my chicken to indicate it's an allergy meal, but my sides were on my friend's plate and theirs were on mine. The garlic bread was on top of my chicken. If I had an allergy rather than an intolerance, this wouldn't have been good for me.
I explained to the staff about the mix up, and as a way of apology they brought me two custard tarts, which both contain gluten.
I think the staff need a lot more training on allergies, this kind of negligence could be deadly for someone with an allergy.
