We stayed in Penicuik for its easy access to Edinburgh and ate in The Royal Hotel for all 3 nights we were there. We were welcomed warmly by all the staff we encountered and the variety of meals we sampled was delicious. No faults at all. One of our party of four needed gluten free and she was not disappointed. A wide variety of the menu was gluten free and it was evident that the whole team take it seriously and are constantly looking for ways to make more of the menu GF. The hand cut chips are a must (not GF as fried with other things)! We all highly recommend The Royal Hotel and hope to be back one day.
