Sugar Bowl

Great ice cream, super-cool atmosphere! They have so many flavors to choose from, even dairy and gluten-free options! A very inviting place, and the antique decor makes me feel like I'm in an old-school diner. The line moves super quick, and I had the best milkshake of my life! I will definitely be coming here again. They even have another location on the Luther College campus that is open to the public that offers coffee, sandwiches, and ice cream! A hidden gem, for sure.

Have been coming to Decorah for years and never went to the Sugar Bowl. A few years back we saw it was under new manaand decided to try....and am very glad we did. There are two ice cream places in Decorah...Sugar Bowl and Whippy Dip. Sugar Bowl serves hard pack ice cream, and Whippy Dip does soft serve. The experience at Sugar Bowl is always great....friendly staff who are genuinely happy to help you. The flavors of ice cream rotate but they are so good. Today, I had the Mint Avalanche...fun fact, they will make you an ice cream sandwich if you ask. They have home made monster cookies that I think are gluten free...if you don't care if you eat gluten you wouldn't know you are missing out and if you can't have gluten, boom! Gluten free cookie ice cream sandwich. Love this place and will be back next time we are in town.
