Decided to eat here as they served gluten free fish and chips. The fish was nice but the chips were very disappointing. They were small, thin and resembled chip sticks rather than traditional chippy chips. Could only give one star for atmosphere as we were the only customers in the shop. Maybe word had got out about their unacceptable chips!

This was a regular place whenever we visited the lakes due to my niece being coeliac and they did an amazing gluten free fish and chips. Having visited today, think it's clearly under new ownership as menu looked different and the options changed. We simply asked one of the workers if it's right that there is no longer a gluten free option. The response was not just unprofessional but extremely rude. The response was... "can't you see, it's been taken off the menu!" I'm sure people understand how much of a challenge it can be to find a gluten free option and though we respect any business decision to no longer provide a service, there is no need to be rude about it. Therefore, will never visit again and suggest you also avoid!

Went in this afternoon looking for the brilliant gluten free fish and chips we've loved over many years of living in the lakes. Ignored by all staff despite the fact there was no one else there for long enough to realise there is no longer any gluten free menu, despite the website still saying there is, and signs outside saying "allergen aware". When I was finally spoken to I asked about gluten free fish and chips and got a really grumpy reply. Very sad to lose such a great resource, but luckily we found good gf fish and chips and friendly, helpful service down at Driftwood on the lake shore. Vinegar Jones is Vinegar Jones in name only now. It is not the same place at all.
